If You Only Knew

She looked at me with big, questioning eyes and asked, “Do you think anyone prays for me?”
I respond, “If you only knew.”
The question has stuck with me because really, if she only knew.
I think of all the volunteers who come out each Tuesday with a meal. They pray for her. Those who come to clean the yard, paint the house and donate clothes They pray for her. Alyssa, Austin and I - we pray for her.
It is endless the number of names of those who are lifting up hers. People she doesn’t even know.
If she only knew.
If she only knew how many people she has praying for her. How many people are cheering her on to succeed. If she only knew how deeply, immeasurably loved she is. If she only could hear God’s sweet whisper singing, “My child you are loved. You are so, so loved.”
If only we all knew. To be able to grasp how deeply loved, how deeply cherished and cared for we each are. We would be transformed.
As the summer comes to a close, Alyssa and I are excited about House of Hope Ministry’s upcoming expansion. We are excited to announce that the paper work is complete and we are officially a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit. We are beyond excited!
Why this route? All the paperwork, budgeting, fundraising, time, and effort? Well, I think the answer to this question is best found in another one: “Do you think anyone prays for me?”
Becoming an official 501c3 is more than a piece of paper telling the government we’re tax exempt. It is a promise to the community that we are here to stay, that we are “all in.” It is the key to resources that are going to bring life to a community. Our home is more than just another trailer. It is a safe haven for families that may not have one otherwise. It is the love of God marching in with open arms through our neighborhood.
It is so that when a child of God looks up with questioning eyes and asks, “Do you think anyone prays for me?” Someone is there to say, “If you only knew.”
While I cannot fully grasp myself the love I know I’m entrenched in, I can hear God whisper in every blessing and into every tear “If you only knew.” This is why we are here, not just in the park, but in this life. We are here to let every child of God know:
YES, someone is praying for you.
YES, you are so extremely and unconditionally loved.
YES, you are worthy of everything life has to offer.
I can hear God saying to us all, “My child, if you only knew.”
