WHAT IS HOUSE OF HOPE?
House of Hope Ministry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was formed out of the question “What could it look like if we were intentional about loving our neighbors?” A large part of our ministry model is rooted in the fact that we are living in the communities we are serving, breaking the mold of the typical “pop up” programs. We aim to be a resource to the families in the mobile home communities that we call home. These resources include youth groups, community events, mentoring, food and clothing assistance, and anything else that might help lighten the load of our neighbors.
Who is living in the communities? At House of Hope, we refer to them as “People Plants.” These are the people on our team who have committed to moving into the mobile home communities to do full-time ministry. Our People Plants are the ones forming the relationships, figuring out the needs, and bridging the gap. Throughout the week, they open up their homes, and these homes become a safe place for the community to come and feel heard, seen, and loved. We currently have People Plants located in Sashabaw Meadows (Clarkston), Parkhurst Estates (Oxford), and Sterling Estates (Sterling Heights).
CORE VALUES:
A safe place: Some of the children coming through our doors might live in unstable or at-risk households. We create safe spaces where they can be themselves -- and be kids.
An accepting environment: No matter the clothes they wear, the car they drive, or the cards they have been dealt, we are a place where our neighbors can come as they are.
An encouraging voice: We are here to encourage our neighbors -- both in their everyday lives and as they look ahead. We walk with them as they set and reach goals and see outside of generational cycles.
A safe set of ears: We work to create environments where everyone who comes through our doors feels heard. This includes encouraging our neighbors to share their whole stories -- including both the peaks and valleys.
Difference makers and legacy creators: We try to intentionally notice and develop children’s unique talents, gifts, and abilities. This includes fostering leadership skills, providing opportunities to step out of their comfort zones, and encouraging them to grow in who they are.
The hands and feet of Jesus: We know that our actions speak louder than words. We work intentionally to match needs with resources, to show them they are seen, and to demonstrate that we care for them - just as Jesus does.

“This group of wonderful people have helped us so much in our community. If you can donate that’s great, but if not say a little prayer for them . I am so grateful for House of Hope .”
